Community Guidelines
Dare Together is built on trust, respect, and mutual support. These guidelines exist to make sure everyone feels safe, valued, and free to do their best work. They apply to the WhatsApp group and to the time we spend together on site.
The guidelines are part of the Terms of Participation.
1. Respect & Inclusion
We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Listen actively. Assume good intentions. We are here to lift each other up, not to compete.
2. Communication
Be honest and direct, but kind. If something bothers you, address it early and calmly. Avoid passive aggression. When giving opinions, speak for yourself (“I feel...” rather than “You always...”). Respect quiet time and deep work hours.
3. Feedback Culture
Feedback is a gift. Give it constructively, receive it gracefully. Focus on the work, not the person. If someone asks for feedback, be thoughtful and specific. If you receive feedback, take a moment before reacting. Growth happens outside of comfort zones.
4. Work & Shared Spaces
Keep shared spaces clean and organized. Be mindful of noise levels during work hours. Respect personal boundaries and private spaces. If you use communal equipment or supplies, put them back where you found them.
5. No Harassment Policy
We have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind. This includes but is not limited to: unwelcome physical contact, verbal abuse, intimidation, stalking, sustained disruption, unwanted sexual attention, and discrimination based on gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
If you experience or witness harassment, contact Simon or a designated community lead immediately. All reports will be taken seriously and handled confidentially.
6. Confidentiality
What is shared within the community stays within the community. Respect the confidentiality of business ideas, personal stories, and conversations shared during a workation and in the community.
Do not share another person’s personal information, business plans, or private conversations outside the community without their explicit permission. This applies to conversations on site as much as to anything shared in the WhatsApp group.
Photos and videos of other participants are only published, whether on social media or anywhere else, with the consent of the people shown. The same applies to screenshots from the group.
7. Digital Conduct
The same standards of respect and professionalism that apply in person also apply to all digital interactions, including the WhatsApp group and social media.
- Do not spam community channels with unsolicited promotions or sales pitches
- Do not use the contact details of other participants for commercial purposes without their consent
- Be thoughtful about the frequency and relevance of your messages in the group
- Respect everyone who is offline or has set boundaries around their availability
8. Substance Use
We encourage a mindful approach to alcohol consumption, especially during community events. Excessive intoxication that disrupts the group or compromises safety is not acceptable.
The use, possession, or distribution of illegal substances is strictly prohibited during any Dare Together activity or in any shared accommodation.
9. Financial Responsibilities
Everyone is responsible for their own costs: flight, accommodation, meals, visa fees, and personal expenses. You book and pay for those yourself, directly with the provider. Dare Together does not book or pay for them on your behalf. The participation fee covers organisation, the group, the community and hosting on site, and nothing else.
For shared activities, costs are communicated in advance and each person pays the provider directly. Taking part is always voluntary. If you commit to an activity, pay your share promptly. If you need to cancel, say so as early as possible so costs can be redistributed fairly.
10. Reporting Violations
If you experience or witness a violation of these guidelines, please report it. You can do so by:
- Speaking directly to Simon on site
- Sending an email to hello@daretogether.net
All reports will be taken seriously and handled confidentially. We will not retaliate against anyone who reports a violation in good faith.
11. Consequences
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- A private conversation to address the issue
- A formal warning
- Temporary suspension from the community
- Permanent removal from the community
Serious violations, including any form of harassment, discrimination, illegal activity, or endangering others, may result in immediate removal without prior warning, from the community and from a workation. What happens to the participation fee in that case is set out in section 10 of the Terms of Participation.
We believe in second chances and honest conversations. But we also believe in protecting the safety and wellbeing of every person here.
12. Amendments
We may update these guidelines from time to time to reflect the evolving needs of our community. Everyone in the community will be notified of material changes via email. The most current version will always be available on this page. Continued participation in the community after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
13. Severability
If any provision of these guidelines is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. Any invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that best reflects the intent of the original.
